The Westmalle Dubbel Brune is a Belgian beer brewed in the Trappist Abbaye de N.D in the Trappe du Sacré Cœur. Poured in a mahogany colour, it develops an impressive and long-lasting beige head. This color is due to the double dose of malt used to brew this Westmalle.
It releases powerful malty aromas with floral scents, tones of caramelized alcohol and yeast. In the mouth, the delicacy is obvious. One will immediately notice the liquorice, the subtly burned caramel, toasted notes and the dry and long bitterness.
The beer displays malty flavours all along the palate. This trappist beer is weaker than its little sisters: the Westvleteren of the Rochefort, but it is truly a quality product. After having let it rest a bit, you can pour it in its Westmalle Chalice Beer Glass and this way leave the yeast bed in the bottle.
