Teeling's third limited release celebrating the revival of whiskey distilling in Dublin marks the 18-month anniversary of the moment it was brought back - when Teeling distillery opened in The Liberties. Initially matured in ex-bourbon barrels, it's rather unusually been finished in Pineau des Charentes barrels! Pineau des Charentes, if you don't know, is a a type of fortified wine made from grape must and Cognac eau-de-vie. Very interesting indeed.
Nose:Subtle bouquet of honey and hazelnuts with rich dark chocolate undertones.
Palate:Dried fruit and toffied pineapple giving way to toasted almonds and dark chocolate.
Finish:Balanced, rich mouth feel with a lingering soft sweetness.
