A special edition release of Johnnie Walker, this 21 year old expression was inspired by the blending notes of Sir Alexander Walker. Featuring whisky from the extensive Johnnie Walker stocks, the XR 21 Year Old is even said to include whisky from the now-silent Brora distillery.
Nose: Spiced apple, smoky oak and a little toasted brioche.
Palate: Herbal as it opens. This gives way to orange and lemon peels by the bucket-load, followed by another kick of smoky malt.
Finish: Wafts of Sherry-soaked raisins last and last.
Notes on the featured animals on the Johnnie Walker XR 21YO
The Philippine Tarsier
The Philippine tarsier is a very peculiar small animal native only to the Philippine archipelago. It is one of the smallest known primates, no larger than an adult human's palm. They are highly protected by the government and other environmental institutions as there are only 5,000-10,000 left in the wild.
The Great Philippine Eagle
Also known as the Monkey-Eating Eagle, this animal is declared as the Philippine's national bird. The Great Philippine Eagle is the largest of the surviving eagles in the world - it is also considered the rarest and most powerful attributed to its length and wing surface. Unfortunately, it is critically endangered due to rampant deforestation in the country, resulting to the loss of their habitat.
The Philippine Crocodile
The endemic Philippine crocodile is one of the rarest animals on the planet. They are considered the world's most endangered species of crocodilian as there are only an estimated 250 left in the wild.
