A much adored expression here - 40 year old single malt Scotch whisky from the legendary Glenfarclas, offering up generous helpings of Sherried notes that the distillery are famous for. Bottled at 43% ABV, and presented alongside a handsome box reminiscent of the iconic doors of Glenfarclas' warehouse.
Nose:Dense dark chocolate, cigar box and raisin as it opens, before hints of old oak furniture start to develop (some leather notes here, too!). After a few minutes, touches of Cognac-like rancio appear.
Palate:Continuing Christmas Cake elements, and a pinch of tobacco remains as well. Chocolate orange brownies, coffee beans and chewy dried fruit adds to the richness. Sparks of cinnamon and black pepper in the background, bringing a comforting warmth to the palate.
Finish:A long finish, boasting thick notes of Sherry and butterscotch. Seville orange marmalade and ginger develop later.
